The Visual Arts Instructor at Fine Arts Preparatory School is responsible for teaching visual arts, fostering creativity, self-expression, and a deep appreciation for the visual arts. This role focuses on providing comprehensive instruction aligned with educational standards while nurturing students' artistic skills, techniques, and artistic exploration.

Develop and deliver visual arts lessons that align with educational standards, ensuring that students meet the specified learning objectives. Teach various artistic techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and digital art, tailored to students of varying age groups and skill levels. Introduce students to art history, influential artists, and artistic movements, fostering an understanding of the cultural and historical context of art. Encourage students to explore their creativity and self-expression through various art forms and mediums, both traditional and digital.

Provide opportunities for students to engage in hands-on studio practice, experimenting with different materials and techniques. Create an inspiring and inclusive classroom or studio environment that supports creativity, collaboration, and artistic growth. Establish clear classroom expectations, promote discipline, teamwork, and respect among students.

Organize and curate student art exhibitions and showcases within the school or in the community to celebrate students' artistic achievements. Assess and evaluate student artwork through critiques, portfolio reviews, assignments, and constructive feedback. Maintain open and proactive communication with parents and guardians, sharing updates on students' progress, art exhibitions, and any concerns or opportunities for improvement. Stay current with visual arts education trends and practices, attend workshops, conferences, and engage in professional development to enhance teaching skills.


  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or a related field. Master's degree or state certification in Art Education is a plus.

  • Prior experience as a visual arts instructor, preferably with experience teaching art to students of varying age groups.

  • Proficiency in a wide range of artistic techniques and mediums.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.

  • Creativity, innovation, and a passion for fostering a love of visual arts in students.

  • Interaction with students, parents, fellow educators, and school administrators is essential for this role.

  • Work hours may include occasional evenings and weekends, particularly during art exhibitions and events.
