About the Role
The Community School Coordinator at Fine Arts Preparatory School is responsible for supporting the well-being of the school community by coordinating and implementing various programs and services. This role involves working with diverse groups of students, families, staff, and community partners to enhance the overall educational experience and address social, emotional, and community-related needs.
Provide day-to-day support for a wide range of well-being matters affecting the Fine Arts Preparatory School community, including students, families, and staff. Organize, develop, and execute the Full Service Community School Program, ensuring that it aligns with the school's goals and serves the needs of the community. Communicate effectively with a diverse group of people, including students, parents, teachers, community members, and external partners, to foster collaboration and engagement.
Establish and maintain an appropriate external network of professional groups and organizations that work collaboratively with the school community to provide resources and support. Stay informed about current student well-being, anti-bullying, and cyber safety strategies, and implement relevant programs and initiatives to promote a safe and respectful school environment.
Support substance abuse awareness efforts, encourage positive choices and personal responsibility among students, and collaborate with relevant programs aimed at preventing gang involvement and promoting community safety. Provide assistance to students in transitioning into Fine Arts Preparatory School, offering self-confidence reinforcement and guidance during this critical period.
Meet with and mentor students as needed, whether approached directly or through referrals with the consent of parents or guardians, to address social, emotional, and academic concerns. Offer referrals to community support channels for Fine Arts Preparatory School community members in need of additional services, and mediate conflicts between students, families, and staff when required.
Requirements
Oversee service learning and diversity programs; support the social, and emotional wellbeing of students.
Provide temporary and emergency counseling services, supports steady attendance, good study habits, and genuine compassion for the school and community.
Serve as the Community School Coordinator.
Strategic thought partner responsible for the execution, coordination, and alignment of resources for the community school plan.
Have strong communication and interpersonal.
Ability to engage with a diverse group of individuals.
Knowledge of student well-being, anti-bullying, substance abuse prevention, and community safety strategies.
Experience in program development, coordination, and evaluation.
Familiarity with local community resources and service providers.
Commitment to the well-being and success of students and their families.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Working hours may vary and include occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate community events or meetings.
Any other duties as assigned by school administration.
