About the Role
The Custodian & Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and operational functionality of a facility. This role involves a combination of custodial duties, routine maintenance tasks, and minor repairs to maintain a well-kept and efficient environment.
Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing various areas of the facility, such as classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common spaces. Empty and replace trash bags in bins and dispose of waste in accordance with established procedures. Monitor and maintain restroom supplies, clean and disinfect fixtures, and address any plumbing issues promptly. Perform floor maintenance tasks, including waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning, to ensure a clean and attractive appearance. Clean windows and glass surfaces, both inside and outside the facility, as needed. Assist with outdoor maintenance tasks, such as sweeping walkways, picking up litter, and seasonal landscaping.
Perform routine maintenance on facility equipment and machinery, including HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, and electrical systems, to ensure proper functionality. Address minor repair tasks, such as fixing leaky faucets, changing light bulbs, repairing doors, and replacing damaged tiles or fixtures. Conduct regular safety inspections of the facility to identify and address potential hazards or maintenance issues. Be available for emergency response situations, such as water leaks, power outages, or other facility-related emergencies, and take appropriate actions to mitigate damage and ensure safety. Maintain an inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies, order replacements as needed, and ensure that all supplies are stored safely and used efficiently. Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, equipment maintenance schedules, and safety inspections.
Requirements
Previous custodial and maintenance experience is preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and techniques.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems for minor repairs.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects when required.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
The role may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and potentially hazardous materials, so proper safety procedures must be followed.
Any other duties as assigned by school administration.
