About the Role

Fine Arts Preparatory School holds high standards for professionalism and scholarship. The Intermediate Science Educator plays a pivotal role in shaping a transformative educational experience exclusively centered on science for 4th to 8th-grade students. The primary responsibility is to teach scientific content, ensuring alignment with the school's curriculum or prescribed academic program. Possessing a repertoire of instructional skills tailored to the unique needs of young learners in the intermediate grades, educators create a flexible classroom environment that nurtures learning and personal growth. Motivating students to develop scientific skills, attitudes, and knowledge is a key aspect of their role. Collaborating with learning support teachers and specialists is essential for planning integrated science units and activities, discussing student learning, analyzing, and moderating student work, and addressing the educational needs of students. Intermediate Science Educators demonstrate a strong understanding of best practices in science instruction and are adept at using a workshop approach to enhance the learning experience. The absolute focus of educators employed by Fine Arts Preparatory School is on teaching and learning. Innovative and experiential lessons are expected, in addition to a loving and nurturing personality. We believe that every student is gifted and will treat each as such. Some evening and weekend duties may be required.

Requirements

  • Research, plan, model, and deliver appropriately paced student-centered learning experiences.

  • Create innovative strategies to deliver content while providing a safe, nourishing, and enriching environment for students.

  • Deliver multi-disciplinary Liberal Arts lessons to students.

  • Collaboratively plan with content area and grade level team weekly.

  • Utilize technology to drive student engagement and achievement.

  • Connect instruction with the innovations set in the Fine Arts Preparatory School charter(Arts Infusion and Experiential Education).

  • Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of the assigned content area(s) and any related standards.

  • Provide valid and reliable data as it relates to student achievement and growth.

  • Explore the gifted nature and needs of each student using self-paced classroom research, classroom projects, and research-based principles necessary to the success of Gifted & Talented students.

  • Provide a content-rich environment, which promotes environmental sensory for students.

  • Communicate with parents/guardians on a regular basis maintaining ongoing communication with them regarding student activities, and development.

  • Provide a classroom environment, which encourages parent participation.

  • Ensure positive child guidance techniques by re-directing the child with patience and respect.

  • Help students understand and use basic concepts and skills, to demonstrate responsible emotional and cognitive behaviors.

  • Demonstrate patience and poise in the classroom.

  • Utilize creative teaching methods that engage student participation and increase overall learning success. Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.

  • Positively collaborate and support paraprofessionals and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.

  • Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.

  • Remain centered on the school's mission and vision.

  • Performs additional duties as may be assigned by the direct Supervisor and other school administrators.
